Paul Whiteway, an Associate Consultant of GDP Global, specialises in inward investment promotion. From 2003 to 2008, he worked at the centre of the UK’s inward investment network as Director International in Invest UK, later becoming Director for International Sales in UK Trade & Investment. He combines direct, hands on experience of managing a cutting–edge investment promotion operation with a long track record of living and working in developing countries.
Paul is particularly experienced in the introduction of a sector-based marketing approach, combined with focusing more resources on high value FDI. Drawing on this, he advises investment promotion agencies and economic development organisations about strategy and performance management, the design and organisation of IPAs, the management of overseas operations, how to handle client and stakeholder relationships, and aspects of marketing, especially client propositions. He has had contact with a wide range of IPAs/Economic Development Boards, including from Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia.
