Luminex Corporation (NSDQ: LMNX), a Texas-based maker of multiplexed research tools, has opened a Shanghai office that will serve as the company’s operations center for the Asia Pacific region. The company said demand in China for its products was both strong and growing. The new facility will include office and training lab space. According to Luminex, China is Asia’s second largest market for clinical laboratory equipment. Worldwide, laboratory equipment revenues are increasing at a 15%-20% annual rate, but China is one of the more dynamic markets.  In addition to its Austin, Texas home base, Luminex has previously established offices in Toronto, Canada and Oosterhout, The Netherlands.
