John Hanna, a Director of GDP Global, has 19 years’ experience in economic development at strategy and senior operational level. He worked with the UK’s Welsh Development Agency as a senior investment promotion and marketing director for eight years.
Since forming GDP Global in 1999 John has worked on consulting and teaching assignments with over 100 national and regional economic development agencies, and also on several commissions from the United Nations UNCTAD, UNDP, World Bank, the EU and ASEAN.
John is the author of the annual Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) Performance Benchmarking Programme since its inception in 2001, through which more than 150 government economic promotion agencies worldwide have been supported. He led the development of the website and ecommunications M&E programme which is now in its 5th year of use by approximately 200 government IPAs.
John is also the founder and course director of the training company European Academy of Business Development. Since 2001 the European Academy and GDP Global has provided training and personal development inputs to 70 government agencies and over 1,000 agency personnel, through both public and dedicated in-house programmes. His main interest is in the transfer of knowledge and capacity into all layers of IPAs.
