Douglas Mellor is an Associate Consultant of GDP Global and a business leader with 35 years’ experience in technology dependent industries, including turnaround and post acquisition merger situations, JV and start-ups. His unique business experience includes a blend of general management, sales and marketing within international technology environments.
Currently Douglas holds senior positions as Business and Commercial Development Director at Qinetiq plc, one of the world’s leading defence technology and security companies.
In the last few years Douglas has established the company in several new markets in Northern Europe, and government clients around the world. He is currently focused on business development of a new Human Science business unit. Douglas has worked on numerous business turnaround and business development programmes for US, French and UK technology groups. He held senior positions in several companies including Ferranti, Groupe Schneider – where he was CEO of a UK subsidiary company, STC & AVX.
With venture capital support he established a ceramics’ technology company in Scotland. He also ran his own IT consultancy for several years, advising several technology groups. Douglas is an honours graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Newcastle on Tyne, and holds an MBA from Glasgow University. He speaks English and French.
