Full credit to British Midlands Development Corporation for its promotion of a credible technology development in Birmingham, England, that is bound to capture a lot of attention.
Its smart promotion through press releases and event activities, of the University of Birmingham is almost as smart as the university’s development of hydrogen powered vehicles. The university’s School of Chemical Engineering – Fuel Cells {mosimage}Group, has unveiled a fleet of (we think three) hydrogen powered cars, making it the only university in the UK to run a fleet of vehicles powered in this way. The cars are pollution free, virtually silent in operation, can travel up to 100 miles on a full tank of hydrogen and at speeds up to 50 miles per hour.
Read the well-prepared press release for full details of the development, and the bigger picture (i.e. the strategy) that is unfurling in the region. It’s a classic example of what can be achieved by a region that is building on its traditional strength of manufacturing vehicles, yet giving it a future at the sharp end of future automotive design and development. Full marks go to those in economic development, R&D and technology development in the British Midlands
